In the first week of October we started with general organisation for our team. In this year we’ll build two robots, that help each other stack 3 layers made of wood to a cake, which gives us points to win the game. After that, we have to put a cherry (a 2.22 diameter ball) on each cake.
The stacks have to be sorted in this order, to gain extra points:
- Icing
- Cream
- Sponge Cake
We created a workspace and a group chat. First of all we gathered some ideas for both bots we’ll use in this project to get us started:
For the little robot:
- laser or ultrasonic sensors to locate our opponents
- line sensors to navigate on the playground
- frame out of an aluminium profile
- collect balls and place them in the basket
For the tall robot:
- ten balls already hooked up (to be placed on the cake)
- frame out of aluminium
- laser or ultrasonic sensors to locate our opponents
- line sensors to navigate on the playground
- camera to scan ArUco tags on cake layers
- when we stacked the cake form a edged shape: to make sure it’s stable
- place the cake plates on top of each other in a right order (you can place a higher stack on a lower, but if you respect the sort, it will give us extra points)
We also had some other ideas, like watching the strategies of the older teams, to implement it in our strategy. We also translated the rules from English to German which will help us understand the rules easier.
